Japanese Kintsugi-golden joinery 自己流金継

 This is my hobby Kintsugi-it means repairing tablewares with natural lacquer and decorating with gold powder.

金継は日本の伝統技術で、漆で割れたり欠けたりした食器を修復し、その継ぎ目を金で装飾することを言います。

 In Japan, we can buy this kit for Kintsugi.
after I have got this, I have started  Kintsugi. I learned from a book, and I'm doing in my own way, but it's enough for me as a hobby.
日本では自己流で金継をする人も最近多くて、こんなキットも売っています。私もこれを手に入れてから本を見ながら自己流で金継を楽しんでいます。

Today I did some processes.  Actually, Kintsugi needs so much time like 2 months. So sometimes I forget to continue haha. Last time I did in May, and tabelwares have waited for next process.
金継は、すべての工程が終わるまでに２か月くらいかかるので、前の工程をやったまま忘れてしまって、だいぶん時間がたったころに思い出す、ということもしばしば。

I polished the unnecessary part of lacquer that lacquered by an oversight in pre-process, and to join each broken parts.

今日は前回の続きから。割れたパーツをつなげるために塗った漆のペースト。このはみ出した余分な部分を炭を使ってこすり落とします。

And I lacquered again more carefully.
そのあと、また漆を塗って、それが半乾きの時に金粉や銀粉を蒔きます。

Next I powdered, and keep it to dry enough.
Later, I will brush off extra powder, then it will be finished!
そのあとは乾くのを待って、余分な粉を落としたら完了。

Originally, people used gold powder, but it can be replaced for gold by silver, tin, shell powders.
I did this cup with tin powder.
もともとは金粉を使っていたそうですが、銀、錫、貝の粉も使えます。このカップは錫を蒔いてみました。




I have many broken tablewares so I am busy on this "hobby". If we move to a western country it could be my job?
たくさん割れた食器があったので、この”趣味”で最近は忙しい。。。
もしヨーロッパに移住したらこれが仕事になるかな？
